New Super Goal Announced for #GivingTuesday

Thank you Capital for helping us to reach out fundraising goal ahead of Giving Tuesday!! Our new SuperGoal will meet our sculling fleet's needs and keep the funds raised with Capital Drive and elsewhere unrestricted.

Thanks to countless volunteer hours, Capital Rowing Club (CRC) salvaged the 2020 summer and fall rowing seasons by offering a number of sculling programs for our sweep, juniors, and adaptive rowers. Last year we had 300 members with our sweep and sculling programs. This year we have 170 masters and 55 juniors actively sculling. Our main limitation is the number of boats.

The club's fleet of 16 singles made almost 3,500 outings between mid-June and mid-September, averaging 2.3 trips on the water per day. In comparison, these boats were in use 1,188 times over five months in 2019. The sculls are seeing roughly four times normal usage, and are getting tired.

The Board has set as a priority the purchase of two new single sculls and making necessary repairs to the current fleet. Our target would allow the club to replace the Kaschper and Firebird which will remain in use until conditions allow us to return to sweep rowing. Blowing past our goal could enable the purchase of an additional double.
