Capital Rowing Club has one mission: to bring rowing opportunities and excellence in rowing to the diverse community of the Anacostia River and the larger Washington DC area.

Capital is a volunteer-directed, non-profit, educational organization offering rowing instruction for people of all ages, income, and levels of physical ability. Capital Rowing Club offers the benefits of recreational and competitive rowing-- discipline, camaraderie, fitness, knowledge of water safety, and the appreciation for the Anacostia River as a valuable natural and recreational resource—to everyone.

The year of 2020 has been tough on the team – the cancellation of the spring rowing season and the transfer to all singles rowing. But it was not a total loss! The coaches and kids of Capital Juniors continued to stay active and hopeful during the COVID quarantine, through a virtual small group competitive challenge and weekly team zoom workouts. As soon as it was safe and possible to start rowing again, the Capital Juniors team completely restructured the summer competitive camp and fall season to accommodate single-only rowing. Although rowing large boats is sorely missed, the kids have become excellent scullers which will only benefit them once it is safe to row in large boats again.

Capital rowing club continues to offer scholarships to carry on and continue our mission, even through these trying times. We hope to continue to raise money for scholarships, for the maintenance of boats, and for the team gear. The year of 2020 has made us more isolated than ever, but Capital wants to continue the camaraderie in any way possible. We know how important that is in times like these. Help us continue to offer a community experience in a safe and responsible way. Thank you!
