$290 towards $500

To make rowing safe, affordable, and accessible to as many DC-area students as possible, we're raising money to support Capital Juniors outreach and operational expenses. This fundraiser leads up to our annual Ergathon, an event where my team will collectively row 250,000 meters.

Capital is an amazing team where people from all kind of places - both socially and physically (I'm from Maryland) - all get the chance to come together to experience rowing and the community that comes with it. They make sure everyone feels included, and no one is left out in the case of being unable to afford the usual costs of being on a team, or any other factors.

Capital provides scholarships and reduced prices to those that need them, and even the "standard" cost is low, allowing many of us to comfortable pick up rowing, and not have to give it up due to money issues.

Since I picked up rowing on a random day off chance a few years ago, I can definitively say that I have changed for the better. Socially I became more confident and comfortable, a massive difference from the quiet awkward guy I was before. Emotionally I was far happier and more stable, as crew gave me something to focus on. Mentally I found myself being simultaneously more effective and relaxed in school and other situations. Without crew, I don't think Id recognize the guy I am right now.

Not only has rowing has been incredible, but the community that I found was as well. The bonds we form when we join a team are among the strongest I've ever felt and the support and friendships are incredible. The people I row with, despite me not even going to school with them, are among my closest friends. Developing together as a team makes everyone highly supportive and motivated. The team is composed of a wide variety of individuals, blind to socioeconomic upbringing or anything. We're all just there to row and be a family.

Really, Capital has done so much for me, the least I can do is help it keep doing what it does.

Help kids like me get on the water and earn their seat in the boat. By supporting Capital Juniors, you'll ensure more DC-area students are able to join a team that emphasizes teamwork, personal accomplishments, fitness, and friendship.

Any donation will go a long way to helping me meet my 2018 fundraising goal.
