Support Capital programming for the next 30 years.

Capital Rowing Club was founded in 1988 and is now the oldest and largest community rowing organization in the region. Its 30-year history demonstrates CRC's commitment to growing the sport of rowing in the DC area.

  • In 1988, CRC started as a six-person team at Thompson Boat Center.
  • In 1995, CRC became a founding member of the original Anacostia Community Boathouse and moved to 1115 M Street SE.
  • And in 2010, CRC moved to the new Anacostia Community Boathouse at 1900 M Street SE as part of the 11th Street Bridge reconstruction project.

CRC has grown to include nearly 400 members. And since 1988, CRC has expanded its programming to provide comprehensive rowing instruction to athletes of all ages and abilities. In addition to fielding several vibrant Masters teams (sweep and sculling), CRC is home to over 60 Juniors rowers and over 20 Adaptive rowers, two groups who have very limited access rowing.

In celebration of the Year of the Anacostia, and to uphold its mission to make rowing opportunities more available, CRC is proud to announce that it is adding a third regatta to its schedule this year. Before Capital Sprints and Head of the Anacostia, CRC will host its first juniors-only regatta: the Anacostia Sprints on April 21. Through its programming and its three regattas, CRC will provide rowing opportunities to hundreds of people this year.

Please consider giving $30 today or making a recurring monthly gift of $30 to show support throughout this milestone year.
